Coffee is enjoyed by millions of people around the world every day and is one of the most researched products; resulting in the publication of hundreds of scientific studies every year.

The Institute for Scientific information on Coffee (ISIC) is a non-for-profit organisation devoted to the study and dissemination of science related to coffee and health. Founded in 1990, ISIC members are seven of the major European coffee companies: illycaffèKraft FoodsLavazzaNestléPauligDE Master Blenders 1753 and Tchibo.

ISIC focuses on the study of scientific information on coffee and health. ISIC also supports independent scientific research on coffee and health and the active dissemination of balanced coffee and health scientific evidence and knowledge to a broad range of stakeholders.

ISIC respects scientific research ethics in all its activities. Its communications are based on sound science and rely on evidence and scientific studies derived from peer-reviewed scientific journals and other publications.

In May 2011 ISIC launched a new website, coffee and health, a science-based resource developed for health care and other professional audiences and dedicated to the dissemination of the latest research studies on coffee, caffeine and its impact on health. The website is regularly updated to provide the latest balanced scientific information and research.

Coffee and health includes current scientific information on a wide range of coffee-related topics, putting new research findings in the context of the existing body of knowledge, helping each of the audiences gain a comprehensive, balanced perspective on each topic.

Topics include cardiovascular health, cancer, fluid balance, gallstones, liver function, mental performance, neurodegenerative disorders, pregnancy, sports performance and type 2 diabetes.

The website also includes abstracts of the latest research papers on the topic of coffee and health from around the world as they are published.
