type 2 diabetes

Conclusion

The association between moderate coffee consumption and reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes has potentially important implications in light of the already high and increasing prevalence of this disease. However, the mechanisms underlying coffee’s effect need further investigation, to confirm the role of individual coffee constituents in particular. This is in line with the recent conclusions of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), which state that a cause and effect relationship between the consumption of chlorogenic acids in coffee and the maintenance of normal blood glucose concentrations has not yet been established13.
